Carl Eifler’s journey into the world of glass art began in 2010, when he was introduced to borosilicate lampworking at the age of 16 in his high school glass art class. This early exposure sparked a deep passion for the craft, and by 2014, after a brief year at Columbia College Chicago, Carl decided to pursue glassblowing full-time, leaving formal education behind to fully dedicate himself to his craft.

Over the next decade, he honed his skills, becoming known for his expertise in fume work. He developed much of this knowledge through immersive workshops with renowned artists: Doshworld in 2016, Slinger in 2017, and JD Maplesden and Matt A. later that same year. These experiences allowed Carl to refine his fuming techniques and expand his knowledge of glassblowing.

In 2018, he moved to the California Bay Area to broaden his professional horizons, landing at Acala Studios in Oakland. A year later, he moved north to West County Glass in Sebastopol, CA, where he worked at the studio of Ryan Teurfs. It was here that Carl developed his signature "dots with lines" fume technique, a distinctive style that would become a hallmark of his work. During his time in Sebastopol, Carl also forged lasting relationships with local glass artists, many of whom he would collaborate with in the years to come.

In 2020, he returned to his roots in the Chicago area, where he continued to develop his craft. In 2024, he completed the construction of his own studio in Northbrook, IL.

Today, Carl is focused on building Eifler Glass around the belief that beautifully made objects should be a part of everyday life. The Clear Collection was created as a foundation for that idea—timeless, functional glassware designed to bring a touch of refinement to the daily ritual. Alongside the Clear Collection, the Fumed Collection continues Carl’s exploration of silver and gold fuming, bringing the color, movement, and individuality of his artistic work into functional pieces.

For Carl, the possibilities of glass are far from exhausted. Each new piece is an opportunity to explore another idea, another technique, or another way of bringing glass into everyday life.
